Surely the only people who have to worry are those who park illegally, (and if the service progresses) who don’t buy car tax and who exceed the speed limit. If you break the law then you should expect to be punished, you might not like it, but don’t blame the council for your wrongdoings or if it makes any money out of you breaking the law.

I would be extremely happy to see this car patrol outside any of our local schools at around 8:30 in the morning and 3 to 3:30 in the afternoon. I am appalled at the amount of parents who see fit to park illegally while dropping children off at school or picking them up afterwards, causing danger and congestion.

As a councillor with 7 schools in my Ward I am contacted constantly by local residents (and the schools) complaining about parents dangerously and inconsiderately parking and demanding the Council enforces yellow line restrictions. I would support my Council taking this action – in fact I shall be suggesting we down the same route.

Seems that the signage is perfectly adequate, and therefore drivers who shouldn't be using the bridge have no right to complain.

If we are not vigilant enough to go on the roads and abide by the rules, questions should be asked if we should be there in the first place. For example, if a child suddenly runs out on the road, we would do our best to avoid the accident. We can't use the excuse "well he wasn't there yesterday!

Coming from someone who works next to this bridge, the signs are perfectly clear. It's painted on the floor, there's a sign either side of the bridge, and signs that clearly state a £60 fine imposed. As a regular user of the bridge, I have witnessed the council worker downloading the images from the camera onto a laptop pointing the signs out to drivers who passed him and get completely ignored.

Of the stated 5,767 motorists caught, I wonder how many individuals this actually is - ie does the number include individual motorists who have been caught on more than one occasion...?

Regularly taking my 5 year old granddaughter to school - bring it on! Some of these ignorant drivers should be locked up let alone fined. The yellow lines are laid to provide a clear area of vision to safe guard the children, not to provide a 'convenient' drop off point.

Money raised from the fines contributes towards transport services, such as community transport for the elderly and disabled people and free off-peak bus travel for the over-60s.
